Seat Key Covers

Four of the five SEAT keys we make covers for have three buttons, so it is the body of the key, not the button count, that tells them apart: an angular folding key, a geometric key cut into facets, a fixed fob capped in chrome and a glossy, lopsided fob. The fifth adds remote start and alarm. Every cover is hand-stitched Alcantara, sewn for one outline only; the same five shapes are in our Cupra Key Covers.

Which outline is on your keyring?

Cover Body and trim Buttons
Angular Flip Key 3-Button Sharp-edged body; a silver release button swings the metal blade out 3
Geometric Smart Key 3-Button Many small facets and angles, chrome loop at the bottom end 3
Chrome-Top Smart Key Fixed fob, no swinging blade; bright chrome cap at the top end 3
Asymmetric Blade Key High-gloss fob, one side cut differently from the other; spare blade kept inside 3
Asymmetrical Alarm Style Off-centre body with two extra buttons 5: lock, unlock, boot, remote start, alarm

Five buttons can only be the Alarm Style. With three, ignore the badge on the car and look at the ends of the key: a chrome cap means the Chrome-Top, a chrome loop under a faceted body the Geometric, a swing-out blade in an angular body the Angular Flip Key, and a glossy, uneven fob with no blade showing the Asymmetric Blade Key. Each product page also shows the bare key the cover was made for.

Kessy: what SEAT calls keyless

  • SEAT's glossary calls its automatic locking and starting system Kessy: the key only has to be on you, and sensors in the door handles pick it up from about 1.5 metres. Current owner's manuals, such as the Ibiza's, list it as "Keyless Access system", so search for that term.
  • Kessy is equipment, not a key shape. On SEATCupra.net, the owner of a third-generation Leon with factory Kessy asked whether his flip key could be swapped for the newer fixed fob seen on some Škoda and Passat keys. A swing-out blade says nothing about whether your car is keyless.
  • Owners on the same forum report that Kessy fobs drain their batteries faster than plain remotes, because they are always listening for the car; one put it at about 18 months against roughly four years.
