Jaguar Key Covers

Jaguar's handbooks call it the Jaguar Smart Key and list its five buttons: unlock, lock, luggage compartment, approach lamps and panic alarm. Both keys covered here carry all five; the body around them differs. Each cover is hand-stitched Alcantara with the buttons moulded into the face.

Cover Body and side trim Button arrangement
Block 5-Button Block-shaped body, engraving along the side pillar Five buttons, including tailgate and headlamps
Rectangular 5-Button Polished chrome strip down the side that carries on into the key-ring loop Four buttons in a 2 × 2 stack, a wide panic button on its own underneath

Turn the key on its side

With five buttons on both, the edge decides. Engraving on the side panel points to the Block cover; bright chrome running round into the loop at the bottom points to the Rectangular one. Both product pages show the bare factory key.

From the Jaguar Smart Key handbook

  • The panic alarm sounds if you hold its button for three seconds or press it three times within three seconds, so it can go off by accident in a pocket.
  • "SMART KEY BATTERY LOW" in the message centre means the CR2032 cell needs replacing.
  • For keyless entry and starting, keep the key clear of metal containers and backlit screens such as phones and laptops. In the door pocket it may be out of range while the door is open.
